He was 2-2 with a 4.95 ERA in four starts this season before surgery on May 12 performed by Rockies medical director Dr. Thomas Noonan.Rockies manager Bud Black said before the series opener at San Francisco that Márquez “would have garnered a lot of interest” on the open market, but wants to be part of turning the Rockies around.“I think we know each other,” Black said. “We know Germán and Germán knows this organization. He feels a strong loyalty to this organization and I think it speaks volumes to Germán wanting to be a part of this moving forward.”Márquez’s new deal calls for $10 million i...FASHION PHOTOS: Siriano marks 15 years in business with Sia singing and a sparkling ballet fantasy

NEW YORK (AP) — Christian Siriano marked 15 years in business Friday with Sia performing on his runway and a nostalgic, ballet-inspired fantasy on his models during New York Fashion Week.“I feel really proud of everything we’ve done,” he told The Associated Press backstage. “All the amazing people we’ve dressed and helped feel confident about themselves.”It wouldn’t be a Siriano milestone without longtime muse Coco Rocha sashaying down the runway in something dramatic. This time, it was at a luxury New York landmark hotel, The Pierre, and this time, she wore a frothy pink ballet gown adorned with multicolored paillettes as her hair swung freely and Sia peeked out from behind a huge white wig topped with a pink bow. And it wouldn’t be a Siriano show without a starry front row. Janet Jackson, Quinta Brunson, Kesha, Rosie Perez, Laura Linney and Avril Lavigne were among his guests. In a way, Siriano went back to his roots. DENVER (KDVR) — An at-large candidate for the Denver Public Schools board is making a big proposal."It's absolutely insane that teachers who work for Denver Public Schools can no longer afford to live in Denver," Board of Education candidate Kwame Spearman said about teacher retention and housing within the city. United jet engine broke up over Denver after inadequate inspections: NTSB report Spearman, who also ran for Denver mayor this year, feels the district will continue to struggle to recruit and retain teachers into Denver Public Schools — especially those who are Black, Indigenous and people of color — without a housing solution that's affordable. Of the 8,294 teachers the state needed to hire last school year, 9% of those positions remain unfilled at the start of this school year, according to the Colorado Department of Education."The district is going to have to evolve its thinking and its ways to support teachers, and one of those is to build more housing that is specifi...Stallings, Sánchez homer in Marlins’ 3-2 victory over Phillies

NEW DELHI — Rishi Sunak said he is “fired up” and “entirely confident” he can win the next U.K. general election despite the opposition Labour Party’s commanding 18-point lead in the polls.Speaking to reporters traveling with him to New Delhi for the G20 summit, Sunak said: “I am entirely confident that we can win the next election.”Sunak took office last year after the chaotic and short-lived premiership of his Conservative predecessor Liz Truss. His party is struggling to close the polling gap with Labour but, asked what his message was to Conservatives who have given up hope of winning, Sunak said: “I can tell you — certainly in Downing Street, we are fired up.”“We’ve brought some new people in … that are joining the team because they believe that we will win — they are hungry to win, I am hungry to win, and they are fired up to deliver it.”Sunak announced a shake-up of his Downing Street team last week, appointing former special adviser Jamie Njoku-Goodwin as head of strat...Latest news
