By LARRY NEUMEISTER (Associated Press)NEW YORK (AP) — The $5 million awarded to a columnist by a jury that concluded she was sexually abused in the 1990s by Donald Trump in a New York luxury department store should be reduced to less than $1 million, the former president’s lawyers told a judge Thursday, saying the award was grossly excessive and based on “pure speculation.”The lawyers noted in a written submission that a Manhattan federal court jury last month rejected a rape claim made by the writer, E. Jean Carroll, concluding instead that she had been sexually abused in spring 1996 in the store’s dressing room.“Such abuse could have included groping of Plaintiff’s breasts through clothing, or similar conduct, which is a far cry from rape,” the lawyers wrote. They said the $2 million granted by the jury on a sexual abuse claim was “grossly excessive” and another $2.7 million issued for compensatory defamation damages was &...NY governor warns Belmont Stakes could be affected if air quality doesn’t improve

However, whether or not they’re worth your money depends on several factors. One of the main advantages of portable air coolers is that they’re ideal for smaller spaces, such as bedrooms, offices, and small apartments. This makes them a great option if you don’t need to cool an entire house or if you live in a rental property and don’t want to invest in a permanent cooling solution.Another advantage of portable air coolers is that they’re generally more energy-efficient than traditional air conditioning units. (KRON) -- A broke homeless woman was paid $30,000 to testify about an Oakland slaying she never witnessed. An allegedly rogue detective was bent on closing a case, with or without real evidence. Two young men were sentenced to serve life in prison for a murder they did not commit. A homicide victim was denied justice because the real killer was never caught. Three children grew up without a father in their life. This stark picture was painted in a federal civil rights lawsuit that was filed Thursday for Giovante Douglas and Cartier Hunter against the Oakland Police Department. The two Bay Area natives served nearly a decade in maximum security prisons before their convictions were overturned and their freedom was granted. At a news conference held outside the Oakland courthouse Thursday, civil rights attorney Adanté Pointer told reporters, "Imagine being sentenced to life, to serve the rest of your natural life behind bars, for something you did not do?" Cartier Hunter holds his son...Latest news
